HOW TO GET THE BEST FROM YOUR GP APPOINTMENT - click here to find out One Appointment, One Problem

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PATIENTS

OPEN SURGERY IS CHANGING TO

EMERGENCY SAME DAY SURGERY

We have listened carefully to patient’s concerns regarding the waiting times for appointments.

As a result we will be making the following change to allow us to provide many more routine/pre bookable appointments.

With effect from Monday 19th November only one doctor will be seeing patients with EMERGENCY problems each day.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT PATIENTS ONLY ATTEND THIS SURGERY IF THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WHICH REQUIRES EMERGENCY MEDICAL ATTENTION ON THAT DAY.

IF YOUR PROBLEM DOES NOT REQUIRE EMERGENCY ATTENTION ON THE DAY YOU WILL NOT BE SEEN IN THIS SURGERY AND WILL BE ASKED TO MAKE A ROUTINE APPOINTMENT.

PLEASE HELP YOUR DOCTOR TO HELP YOU.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Emergency Phone Line

Please telephone Bindon Abbey (01929) 463444 at any time.

Talking To A doctor or nurse On The Telephone

If you wish to speak to a doctor or a nurse on the telephone, but not as a consultation, please ring 01929 462376 and calls will be made after 10.30am Mon- Fri.  The receptionist will take your contact number and some other details and ask the doctor or nurse to call you back.  Please be aware that telephone calls will be made between surgeries and home visits and therefore we cannot be specific about the timing of their call to you.

Routine Appointments

We are able to offer a limited number of appointments which are available to book up to one month in advance. Most of our doctors work part time and you may not always be able to see your doctor of choice. Often a nurse or other healthcare professional may be able to help you Please ask the receptionist for advice.

Patients can now book appointments, subject to availability, on line via Systmonline Access .  You will need to register for this service, unless you are already registered to re-order your repeat prescriptions online.  Please contact reception for more information.

Extended Hours - We have a limited number of early morning and later evening appointments available. These are primarily for patients who find it difficult to make an appointment within our normal surgery times due to work commitments etc.

We offer extended surgery times on some evenings between 6.30 and 7.00pm and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings between 7.00 and 8am.

These appointments are designed to help patients who work access services at convenient times.

Please note: Other surgery facilities are closed during these times.

Improved Access Appointments

We are working to improve access to appointments for our patients, in particular at evenings and weekends. If you would like to be offered one of these appointments, please ask. These appointments are at a different site;  they are available at Poole General Hospital and Wimbourne & Swanage Community Hospitals.
